I’m Rachel, the founder of Little Bison Press and the creator of the National Parks Activities Series. My love for national parks has grown steadily since 1993 when my parents first took me to Mount Rainier National Park. Growing up, I had quick access to Kings Canyon, Yosemite, and Sequoia National Park living in central California. Only as an adult did I realize that not all kids grow up with Giant Sequoias in their backyard!
The National Parks Activities Series idea was sparked in 2020, a year when travel was limited for safety due to the pandemic. I love national parks and have a life goal to visit all 63 of them. They are an incredible lens through which to learn about science, nature, and cultures. I created this series to introduce kids to each national park. Whether your family can visit a park or not, the activity book gives you insight into places to see, things to do, and the coolest features of each park.
As a kid, the only thing I ever aspired to be was a writer. Today I work in public education and get to work with school districts across Washington State. My passion for travel, my love of the outdoors, and my experience working in education have led me to start Little Bison Press. Our motto is "activity books for adventurous kids!" so let’s explore!
